Revised Reporting a Concern (Whistleblowing) Policy

Minutes:

3        REPORTING A CONCERN (WHISTLEBLOWING) POLICY – The Director: Economy and Environment submitted a report seeking approval for changes to the Reporting a concern (whistleblowing) policy.

The Reporting a Concern (Whistleblowing) Policy was developed in 2018 and incorporated into the Human Resources manual, as a conduit for employees to raise concerns about malpractice or wrongdoing within the council.

It had recently been identified that in order to monitor the effectiveness of the policy most successfully, a formal process for recording concerns raised would be introduced.

Whilst the policy’s focus remained internally facing, guidance had now been included on how external whistleblowing cases would be directed and recorded.

Some additional minor changes had been made, such as the specified contacts for Stage 2 concerns to be raised.

Resolved – That the changes to the policy as set out in the Director’s report be approved.
