Cllr Wells declared a personal interest as a member of the Humber Estuary Foundation.  Mrs Whittaker declared a personal interest as a Foster Carer for North Lincolnshire Council. 

 

No whip was declared.

Children's Services and Education - Overview for Elected Members - Presentation by Senior Officers.

The Chairman welcomed Peter Thorpe, Director: Learning, Skills and Culture, Ann-Marie Brierley, Director: Children & Community Resilience, and Darren Chaplin, Head of Access and Inclusion, to the meeting.

 

The Chairman explained that Peter, Ann-Marie, and Darren, had been invited to the meeting to provide a general overview of services provided to children and young people across North Lincolnshire, under the ‘One Family Approach’. 

 

The witnesses gave a wide-ranging presentation, covering desired outcomes, the current summary position across North Lincolnshire, local performance and achievements, and priorities for further improvements.  The panel then asked questions on a host of related issues, including home schooling, educational standards, emotional and mental health and local support services, and Children in Care.  Peter, Ann-Marie, and Darren answered all questions thoroughly.

 

Resolved – (a) That Peter Thorpe, Ann-Marie Brierley, and Darren Chaplin be thanked for their attendance and for responding to members’ questions, (b) that a note of thanks and appreciation be circulated from the panel to all frontline teams for their efforts throughout the pandemic; and (c) that the presentation and information be noted.
