North Lincolnshire Council provision to collect food waste

 

Discussion and questions with the council’s Director: Communities and Assistant Director: Environment and Public Protection

Minutes:

The Chair welcomed Lesley Potts, the council’s Director: Communities and Lisa Swainston, the council’s Assistant Director: Environment and Public Protection to the meeting.

 

The council officers had been invited to the meeting to update the scrutiny panel on the progress and planning that had been made in preparation for the council collecting household food waste.

 

The Director informed members of -

 

·        The available options being explored by the council to collect all waste.

·        Considerations being given toward recycling generically.

·        Potential penalties for non-collection.

·        Educational initiatives to educate and inform North Lincolnshire residents.

·        Recycling targets.

·        Implementation date.

 

The Chair then facilitated a discussion between the Panel Members and the Director and Assistant Director.

 

Resolved – (a) That the council’s Director: Communities and Assistant Director: Environment and Public Protection be thanked for their attendance, presentation and for answering members’ questions, and (b) that the position be noted.
