Thursday 1st October 2020

1 PUBLICATION OF NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE’S ANNUAL SKILLS AND EMPLOYABILITY REPORT 2019/20 - The Director: Learning, Skills and Culture submitted a report seeking approval of North Lincolnshire’s Annual Skills and Employability Report.

The Annual Skills and Employability Report provided an update of activity against the priorities within the Skills and Employability Plan (SEP). The SEP was a response to the ambitions within the Council Plan, setting out priorities for driving forward skills and employment in North Lincolnshire to achieve a more highly skilled workforce, higher paid jobs and full employment.

The SEP was part of the wider suite of plans that together made up the council’s prosperity strategy and also strongly supported government objectives for apprenticeships, technical education and higher level and specialised skills.

During 2019/20, partners had been particularly focused on:

  • enabling people furthest from the labour market to access employment, including those with additional needs
  • raising the employment aspirations of children and developing progression pathways for older young people
  • promoting careers that require STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) qualifications

The report concluded with areas of focus for further improving skills and employment over the next reporting period.

Resolved - That North Lincolnshire’s Annual Skills and Employability Report for 2019/20 be approved.
