Review - Rough Sleeping Strategy

Minutes:

8        REVIEW – ROUGH SLEEPING STRATEGY - The Director: Adults and Health submitted a report seeking approval from Cabinet Members for the publication of the reviewed Rough Sleeping Strategy on the council website.

The pandemic had a renewed focus on people with accommodation needs and how we as partners responded to holistic needs, including access to vaccinations, health and wellbeing of individuals, children, and families.

The Everyone In initiative had been very successful and partners across the voluntary and public sector have all worked closely together.

The revised Rough Sleeping Strategy proposes a sustainable system for reducing homelessness by providing an integrated, person centred model in partnership with people with lived experience, public and voluntary sector partners.

The Rough Sleeping Strategy had been reviewed in light of the experiences and the attached report highlighted the main areas of focus for the next two years as follows.

i.               Ensuring prevention and attention to health equalities enabling everyone to access and sustain a home that is safe, accessible and affordable.

ii.              Enabling individuals and families to engage with positive activities and relationships with their own communities.

iii.             Supporting Individuals and families to have equitable opportunity to reduce reoccurrence of homeless/rough sleeping

iv.            Ensuring individuals and families are enabled to access all health and care opportunities and secure lifelong positive change.

v.              Enhancing integrated approaches so that individuals and families get the right support, at the right time achieving the right outcomes.

Resolved – That the reviewed Rough Sleeping Strategy be approved and published on the council website.
