The Chairman welcomed Sandra Simmons, Head of Participation and Achievement, Sarah Johnson,  ACL Manager, and Emma Wilkinson, Senior Officer – Community and Family Learning, to the meeting.

The Chairman explained that Sandra, Emma and Sarah had been invited to the meeting to update the panel on community engagement and family learning. 

Sandra led on delivering a comprehensive presentation, covering the current team offer to local families, the geographical range where this was provided, and funding mechanisms.  The steps taken during the pandemic to ensure continuity were described.  Sandra gave up to date figures on local engagement, retention, and achievement, which were welcomed by members. 

The panel then asked questions on a number of related issues, including a national comparison on achievement rates, a recent Ofsted inspection, and engagement with non-traditional groups.  Sandra, Emma and Sarah responded to all questions accordingly.

Resolved – (a) That Sandra Simmons, Sarah Johnson and Emma Wilkinson be thanked for their attendance and for responding to members’ questions; and (b) that the presentation and information be noted.
