Minutes: The Chairman circulated report that detailed the findings of a review into the Neighbourhood Action Team concept in North Lincolnshire. Neighbourhood Action Teams (NATs) were community meetings that were held in each of the 17 electoral wards within North Lincolnshire. They allowed people living in that community to influence, prioritise and resolve issues relating to community safety and the environment.
NATs had been in place in North Lincolnshire since 2007, with all meetings Chaired by a ward member appointed by the council.
Currently NATs were set up to deal with issues relating to Crime and Anti Social Behaviour and issues of environmental nuisance.
In September 2020, Safer Neighbourhoods were asked to undertake a review of the NATs by the council’s Places Scrutiny Panel.
The review report agreed a future direction and operating procedure for the NATs.
Members discussed at length the NATs review report and shared best practice and learnings from their experience of the NAT in their ward.
Resolved – (a) That the contents of the Neighbourhood Action Team review report be noted; (b) that the Panel agree in principle to a joint review with the council’s Places Scrutiny Panel on the Neighbourhood Action Team concept, and (c) that at the Panel’s next meeting the Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance be invited to discuss Neighbourhood Action Teams. |
