Capital Expenditure - Complex Care Children's Home

Minutes:

The corresponding reports of the following items (Minute 10 refers) contain exempt information as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

 

10    CAPITAL EXPENDITURE – COMPLEX CARE CHILDREN’S HOME - The Directors: Children and Families, and Economy and Environment submitted a joint report seeking authorisation for the virement of Priority Investment Fund to the Complex Care Children’s Home Project.

 

The proposed Complex Care Children’s Home would make provision for: -

        Short Breaks for children with learning difficulties in facilities that were fit for purpose and met the future anticipated need

        A continuum of stepping up/stepping down of care (preventing the need for long-term care)

        Co-locate provision for long-term care

        Providing an option for potential end of life care as part of a young person’s care plan

        Creating a semi supported option for preparation for adulthood

 

The council had been successful in securing a capital grant from the government’s Department for Education (DfE) to support this project. 

 

Resolved – (a) That the virement of the capital as set out in the report from Priority Investment Fund to Complex Care Children’s Home be authorised, (b) that the Director: Economy and Environment accept the tender and award the contract as set out in the report and (c) that the sites detailed in the report following the move to the new home be disposed of.
