Provision of Carers Support Services

Minutes:

The corresponding report of the following items (Minute 1 refers) contains exempt information as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

1        PROVISION OF CARERS SUPPORT SERVICES – The Directors: Adults and Health and Children and Families submitted a joint report seeking approval to tender for the provision of a Carers Support Service.

Carers were incredibly important and played a vital role in the council’s communities, providing essential care to family members, friends and neighbours who needed help and support with daily living. Carers needed support to look after their own health and wellbeing, realise their education and employment potential and to ensure they were connected in their communities and enabled to have a life of their own alongside caring responsibilities.

The all-age co-produced North Lincolnshire Carers Strategy 2022-2026 prioritised the identification of Carers, supporting them to stay well and healthy in their role, providing the information and resources they needed to keep connected and by giving Carers a voice in influencing change and innovation.

Supporting family Carers contributed to the North Lincolnshire ambition that all children and adults thrived in their families, achieved in their schools, education/training and jobs and flourished in their communities.

The contract for the provision of Carers Support Service for adult Carers including all parent Carers and sibling support was last commissioned in 2017. The current contract expired on 30 December 2023, and a further extension was in place until 31 October 2024 to allow the re-commissioning and tender process to take place.

The report gave details of the current service model, proposed commissioning exercise and service transformation.

Resolved – That Option 1, as set out in the report at paragraph 3.1, be approved.
